Knoebel Imi

W Knoebel - Projektion 4/1-11, 5/1-11 - Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam 1972

One of the leading German artists of the post-war period, Imi Knoebel, born Klaus Wolf Knoebel in Dessau in 1940, studied under the tutelage of Joseph Beuys at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. There he was assigned, together with his friend Rainer (Imi) Giese, its now-legendary ‘Raum 19’. It was this formative experience that initiated a lifelong commitment to the fundamental questions of all non-representational art.
Directed by Wim Crowel, this ctalogue was published on the occasion of the artist's exhibition at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, 1972. This is a series of photos of his famous light projections.
