SAM SALA
BIRDS REWORK
Saturday May 30 - 8pm
Performance and Record Release
followed by an after-party with DJ Zarina

Sam Sala and Saint-Martin Bookshop present Birds Reworks, a limited vinyl art edition featuring a series of four edits of the track “Birds”, originally featured in the LP “Diathomee”.
The project was born from a collaboration with Saint-Martin Bookshop. Birds Reworks also marks Saint Martin Bookshop’s first official musical production, extending its established engagement with visual culture into sound-based practice.
The EP also draws inspiration from the poetry of Aldo Tambellini, a long-standing influence on Sam Sala’s artistic vision. The track titles are derived from Listen – Selected Poems 1946–2016, a publication that continues to inform his creative process. The project was developed with the acknowledgment of the Aldo Tambellini Art Foundation, further reinforcing the conceptual connection between sound, language and experimental heritage.
The creative process was also deeply influenced by time spent in Brussels, particularly by the city’s massive presence of crows - aggressive, loud and impossible to ignore. These encounters became part of the project’s visual and conceptual framework. The vinyl release is limited to 20 hand-finished copies, each featuring a unique, one-off artwork created using spray paint and mixed techniques, directly inspired by these birds. Alongside the record, an accompanying zine with photographs of the crows is currently in development, conceived as an extension of the release and presented during the event.
