Otl Aicher is a graphic designer with extensive experience in typography. Born in Ulm in 1922, he studied sculpture at Munich Academy of Fine Arts after the Second World War. In 1948, he opened his own advertising design office in Ulm, which was primarily involved with Corporate Identity.

Book:
"Druckhaus Maack therefore commissioned Otl Aicher to compile a record of his typographic experience so as to prepare graphic designers, setters and typographers for a new typographic software system designed to give them better guidance in the use and application of type. Using a new family of typefaces, it would be ventured that there is still room for improvement in the legibility of type."
