J.H. Lartigue, les autos et autres engins roulants - Chêne 1974
Jacques Henri Lartigue developed an early interest in motor racing. In 1905, when Jacques was 11, the family traveled to Auvergne to attend his first road race, the Gordon-Bennett Cup. From then on, he practiced photographing cars at top speed, drawing numerous models in his notebooks, or photographs he had taken during the day in his diaries. Gradually, his eye sharpened, and with the constant evolution of photographic technique, he obtained images of surprising realism for the time.
