The "Hsin-hsin-ming" was composed by the third patriarch of Chinese Zen Buddhism, Seng-Ts'an, who died in 606 A.D. The calligraphy of the Chinese text for this edition, which follows the Taisho Tripitaka, was written in K'ai-Shu style by Takako Saito.
