...It is no small surprise that I owe to Fred Deux that I discovered that his passion for anatomy, an eminently materialistic science, led him to operations or investigations whose results unquestionably belong to the realm of mysticism. Such an unusual path, examples of which can be found among the men of the Great Game and especially the poet Roger Gilbert-Lecomte, strengthens the links that seem to connect Fred Deux's work to that of Michaux much more than to surrealism and even Klee.
