Curlet François

François Curlet - Spezialität - Éditions des Beaux-Arts 2008

Heir to John Knight and Jef Geys, François Curlet achieves a singular fusion of conceptual art, Dadaist persistence, pop imagery and Situationist reverie. Using a wide variety of tools and materials, François Curlet's work borrows from the realms of storytelling, television, economic exchange and communication (contemporary media worlds in which he concocts tasty disturbances). These elements (objects, signs or messages) are subjected to various shifts and transformations that divert or invalidate their functionality.

At Le Plateau, François Curlet decided to invite two other Belgian artists, Jos De Gruyter and Harald Thys, to share the exhibition space with him, and to present two new works: the installation Rocking Chair and the film French Farce.
