Charles Szymkowicz - Les Cicatrices (signed) - Le Crache-Noir 1982
Charles Szymkowicz was born in 1948 in Charleroi from Polish Jewish parents who fled the first pogroms and anti-Semitic persecutions. He is a Belgian painter of European neo-expressionism. He was hailed as a great European Expressionist painter when the Kunstamt Wedding in Berlin organized a retrospective of his work in 1987. Szymkowicz is above all a painter of faces. Thanks to him, Rimbaud, Verlaine, Picasso, Van Gogh, Rodin, Ferré, Chaplin, Marx, Kafka... come to life.
