Bernard Villers & diverses présences - La conjuration des couleurs - Musée d'Ixelles 2006
This exhibition catalogue focuses on Bernard Villers' plastic and visual research. As with his books, the coherence of the subject is accompanied by a palette of forms, registers and even configurations. It's all about color relationships and situations.
The Musée d'Ixelles has presented a selection of some thirty works, in an original spatial arrangement that combines very different visual logics. Small or large, mural or mural-like, these works reflect the visual-reflexive registers explored by Bernard Villers.
Color is at the heart of the subject: through its neighbors and induced effects, through the choice of supports and the shapes that characterize them. The poetics of the relationships between dimensions and positions are at the heart of this approach, which can be browsed like a book with a narrative reduced to its simplest expression, at random or haphazardly, always in the passage from one thing to another, each posing the question of what is addressed to the eye and what is meant in this way.
