Jeremy Deller - Joy in People - Hayward Publishing 2012

Published to accompany Jeremy Deller’s major touring exhibition Joy in People, organised by the Hayward Gallery, London, in 2012. The publication surveys Deller’s multidisciplinary practice, bringing together works that draw on British social history, popular culture, music, politics and collective memory. It includes documentation of projects such as The Battle of Orgreave, Acid Brass, Folk Archive and Procession, alongside interviews, commissioned texts and extensive photographic material. Rather than treating Deller’s work as conventional art objects, the book reflects his sustained interest in collaboration, participation and the reactivation of overlooked histories through exhibitions, public events and social encounters.
