J'aime La Mime - Editions Rencontre 1962

Mime has been so forgotten that people are almost surprised when it is placed on the same level as dance, comedy, and tragedy among the performing arts.
Of course, historians and scholars speak of Japanese theatre and, closer to our own time, of the famous Deburau.
They also speak of the legendary Livius Andronicus. Faithful to his muse, which remained faithful to him, Andronicus never gave up. When he lost his voice, he had a member of the chorus recite his lines, while he himself, Livius, performed them through gestures to the accompaniment of the flute and the rhythmic beat of cymbals. Thus, mime was born.
