Herbert Götzinger (1928-1976) was a German wood engraver, object artist from Düsseldorf. In 1953, the artist joined Gruppe 53. From 1956 to 1973, he traveled to Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium. During this time, he created his first abstract works of art. From 1964, Götzinger developed the "Atims". He used this art term, which he invented himself, to describe his three-dimensional material collages made from waste, wire and metal plates. In his search for suitable materials, he scoured old workshops and spoil tips.
