Paper Pools is a series of twenty-nine works wich Hockney made in the summer of 1978: they represents his fascination with new techniques that serve his passionate pursuit of creative representation. It is also a series of essays on water and light, a subject which has fascinated him for a long time.
As well as reproducing the entire series of works in colour and numerous line drawings and polaroids photographs which served as studies for the final pictures, the book contains a vivid and humorous description by Hockney of how he came to make the Paper Pools.
