Jan Fabre - Der Leimrutenmann / The Lime Twig Man - Cantz 1995

Jan Fabre, who works as an artist as well as a theater, ballet and opera director, is considered an innovative multi-talent. Seemingly effortlessly, he crosses the boundaries of the various artistic disciplines, wiping them away as if they had never existed. Nevertheless, his works never miss their target: art. This bilingual volume presents Jan Fabre, who was born in Belgium in 1958 and portrayed himself as a "glue rod man", as a visual artist without reducing him to that. The contributions by renowned authors focus on his "bic-blue" drawings derived from the path of an insect, his iron wire sculptures overgrown with jewel beetles, and his drawn and assembled new creations from dead insect bodies.
