Berlinde De Bruyckere (signed) - Provincie Oost-Vlaanderen 2002

Berlinde de Bruyckere is a fixture in the Flemish and international art world. The provincial government of East Flanders has been following this wayward artist for longer than today. In 1994, she made the ‘rose lift’ for the Provincial Administrative Centre Het Zuid, with no less than 600 lead roses. She also supplied the sculpture for the 2002 edition of the ‘Een thuis voor een beeld’ competition, an initiative of the provincial government and Radio 2 - East Flanders. The work ‘Wenende Ent’ will be integrated into an old tree in an East Flanders municipality yet to be designated. The exhibition in the Caermersklooster - Provincial Centre for Art and Culture is another illustration of our appreciation. This publication is at once the first broad overview catalogue of De Bruyckeres work. And that overview is important because she builds on earlier motifs, symbols and forms in each new work.
