Bernadet Jean-Baptiste

Jean-Baptiste Bernardet - So Far, So Close - Almine Rech Editions 2017

Jean-Baptiste Bernadet (born in 1978 in Paris) is a distinctive colorist who creates within each canvas an atmospheric cosmos, in which nature, emotion, and psyche take center stage. They oscillate somewhere between abstraction and landscape painting: incandescent shades of orange, full and honest purples, sulfuric yellows, deep grays, and melancholic pale greens produce worlds in which a landscape, its unique memory, and the imagination interact, directed by the eye and the mind.
Features ‘Jean-Baptiste Bernadet, Between Spectacle and Subversion’, an essay by Alex Bacon and ‘A Summer Talk, August 2016’, an interview of Jean-Baptiste Bernadet by Anne Pontégnie.
The catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition Jean-Baptiste Bernadet, “So Far, So Close”, held at Almine Rech Brussels, from April 20 to July 30, 2016.
