The exhibition catalog There'll never be a door. You're inside. Works from Coleção Teixeira de Freitas presents a selection of works from one of Portugal's most important private contemporary art collections, assembled over the last eighteen years by Lisbon-based Brazilian lawyer Luiz Augusto Teixeira de Freitas.
The exhibition, conceived as a reflection of the origin and evolution of a collection focused on architecture, literature, books and conceptual art, includes almost 400 works by 193 artists, including Jonathas de Andrade, Juan Araujo, Alighiero Boetti, Geta Bratescu, Carlos Garaicoa, Emily Jacir, Jorge Macchi, Damián Ortega, Wallid Raad Cildo Meireles, Dahn Vo, Gordon Matta-Clark, Jorge Macchi, Julião Sarmento, Tamar Guimarães, Thomas Ruff, Gabriel Sierra, among others. Drawing, painting, video, artist's books, as well as various forms of ephemeral art make up this selection exhibited at the Sala de Arte Santander in 2019.
The exhibition, curated by Luiza Teixeira de Freitas, is titled after the first line of the poem Labyrinth by Jorge Luis Borges, which summarizes the indissoluble union between art and life, between a collector and his passion.
