Eladio Dieste 1943-1996 - Junta de Andalucia 1996
Eladio Dieste's case is paradoxical. Awareness of his work remains well below its true importance. This importance and interest are based on a small number of buildings that unquestionably and fully achieve the level of “architectural”. But in addition to being paradoxical, Dieste's case is extremely unusual. Can we imagine that the limited but undeniable recognition he and his works have received would have been the same without the discovery of what we now call ‘reinforced ceramics’?
The very expression “reinforced ceramics” is inextricably linked to his name; Dieste bequeathed a new material to the contemporary construction industry.
