Christopher Williams - For Example: Die Welt ist schön (Final Draft) - Boijmans Van Beuningen/Kunsthalle Basel 1997

This very special exhibition catalogue documents the project the American artist Christopher Williams has to made during three years for its exhibition. Its title makes reference to the famous book "Die Welt ist schön" (1928) by the German photographer Albert Renger-Patzsch. Fascinated by the presence of common things, Renger-Patzsch photographed plants, animals, human beings, landscapes, machines, and industrial products as objectively and realistically as possible, shunning theatrical stagings. In the spirit of this modernist approach, CW transports Renger-Patzsch classification and principles into his present.
Edition of 1500.
