It includes 6 essays, one of which recounts the story of Burton and his wife and their years in the Congo. In the late 1920s and 1930s, missionary W. F. P. Burton posted to Mwanza, Congo, made ethnographic and photographic collections of the Luba. His collections became part of the University of the Witwatersrand's Museum of Ethnology.
