Riding Modern Art - Editions B42 2017

For the past ten years or so, Raphaël Zarka has been collecting photographs of skateboarders on public artworks published in magazines and websites. This is a reflection on sculpture in the context of a more general questioning of the notion of public space and the ‘practices of space’ of local people, close to the reflections of Michel de Certeau.

Some images are missing from this collection, as the sculptors have refused to allow their works to be reproduced. The spaces dedicated to the corresponding images have deliberately been left vacant.
