John Baldessari - National City - Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego 1996
Approximately 20 works were presented, made by Baldessari in National City, a small community between San Diego and the U.S./Mexico border, between 1967 and 1970; also featured were several photo text works and other important text paintings of the period. Additionally, new work made by Baldessari in response to his return to his hometown was also included in the exhibition. The exhibited works were unified by their reflection on the artist's sense of place, his displacement, and his biting sense of humor. Publication in conjunction with the exhibition curated by Hugh M. Davies and Andrea Hales, and presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego from 10/03 to 30/06/1996.
