Francesca Woodman - Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain/Actes Sud 1998
Texts by Elizabeth Janus, Sloan Rankin, Philippe Sollers, David Levi Strauss.
In 1998, the "Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain" was the first institution to bring the work of photographer Francesca Woodman to France. Spanning over 100 works, the exhibition retraced the rich yet tragically short career of this young American photographer, who died at the age of twenty-six.
The world it portrays is intimate, strange and moving, that of a young woman who bowed down to nothing beyond her intimate bonds with the camera.
