Christian Marclay - Exhibition catalogue - Centre Pompidou 2022
Christian Marclay's first exhibition in a French institution since 2007 (under the dir. of Jean-Pierre Criqui) presented most of the artist's major installations and highlights the diversity of his work, particularly the multiplicity of mediums he uses from the 1980s to now. Heir to John Cage and Andy Warhol, but also to comic strips and punk aesthetics, the work of Swiss-American artist Christian Marclay is characterized by collage and montage. Photographs in a variety of formats, assemblages of paperbacks, modified musical instruments, prints and paintings provide the backdrop for this choral, polymorphous installation.
