Antoine Poupel, Gilbert Lascault (signed) - Rose ouverte, L'Art Pénultième - 2002
Very curious artist book with a breast protruding from a synthetic turf on the cover, adorned with a piercing reminiscent of some of the book's themes, in homage to Marcel Duchamp. Winner of the Grand Prix de Rome for photography, Antoine Poupel began by working with monotypes and Polaroids, which he manipulated while developing. The images presented here are the evolution of these processes through digital photography for works shown in Paris and Japan. Gilbert Lascault's tale of the adventures of an aeronaut on a voyage through sensual galaxies, sometimes reminiscent of the fantastical world of Forest's Barbarella, is illuminated by Antoine Poupel's erotic, psychedelic images, making this book a unique object.
