Johan Van Geluwe - The museum of museums - Ludion 2004

Central to Johan van Geluwe's artistic personality is a critical attitude towards society and politics, with an innate sense of independence. He abhors the commercialisation and trivialisation of culture and the arts. By stubbornly holding on to this attitude, he resists, goes against it and refuses to be a servant of the art dealership circuit. That is why his work is not for sale. With 'The Museum of Museums' he gained fame throughout Europe from the 1970s. From this imaginary museum, Van Geluwe plays with different layers of meaning and perspectives.

The monograph Johan van Geluwe, The Museum of Museums, was awarded the Plantin-Moretus Prize in 2005 as the best book in the art category.
