Jeff Wall - Simple indification - La lettre volée 1995
Frédéric Migayrou analyses the issues at stake in the critique of representation pursued by Jeff Wall's work through the concept of indication, a concept that leads to the status of the index and the gaze. The pose, the gesture, the figure, the type, but also the notion of the threshold between narrative composition and reality, between form and the grotesque, are all constitutive elements in Jeff Wall's work, the role of which is analysed here, and which compose a montage of heterogeneous temporalities in each image.
