Aware of Proust's interest in the photographic image as a record of time and place, François-Xavier Bouchart follows in the writer's footsteps. In a kind of visual archaeology, he rediscovers places through Proust's eyes, trying to find what he saw in what he sees. The idea is to show literary places (whose reality is often the product of Proust's ‘documented’ imagination) alongside fragments of the writer's work, and to allow the reality of the places photographed in black-and-white panoramas to create a space for daydreaming and wandering.
