Franck Sarfati - Archipelagos 2022
Vernissage
Friday May 20th 6-9pm
The white of the porcelain as an evocation of the blue of the oceans. On one side, the archipelagos, which according to the philosopher Edouard Glissant, bring people together while the continents divide them. On the other side, the jellyfish, creatures both sublime and disturbing, of absolute elegance, strangely ecological, theoretically immortal, carried wherever the currents take them. A clear and calm universe that rests us from the turmoil and roughness of the world.
A large installation of approximately 300 sculptures (550 x 260 cm), made of glazed Limoges porcelain, will be on display at Saint-Martin Bookshop from 20 May to 11 June. Each piece is unique in shape, size, structure and appearance.
Variations of this work, embossed on Awagami Hakuho paper, will also be presented.
Ten years ago, in his creative graphic design studio, Franck Sarfati instituted the "sculptural friday" just for himself. From that moment on, he devoted one day a week to this passion which quickly became a profession. A few years later, Franck Sarfati instituted a weekly "sculptural week", with all his time now devoted to sculpture. This was the beginning of a career entirely devoted to art.
