Jota Castro - Paris Musées 2005
By turns ironic, provocative or more intimate, Jota Castro's works reinterpret, not without humour, facts linked to current events as well as to the artist's personal history. At the end of the 1990s, Jota Castro put an end to her career as a diplomat for the United Nations and the European Union to work in the field of art. His various professional activities have given him an in-depth knowledge of the political world, and he considers his studies in law and political science to be his artistic training. Through his sculptures, installations and performances, Jota Castro works at the heart of society's most topical issues, revealing some of the dysfunctions inherent in international politics.
This first monograph devoted to Jota Castro takes a chronological look at the artist's work. Lavishly illustrated, it includes a long, previously unpublished interview between Jota Castro and Jérôme Sans, as well as short explanatory notes by the artist on each of his works.
