Edited by Nigel Prince with texts by Donald Judd, A good chair is a good chair was published on the occasion of the exhibition held at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham in 2010, and at the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich in 2011.  
It was considered the most comprehensive survey of furniture and related drawings by Judd since his death in 1994. It includes early prototypes constructed by the artist himself and used by his family, rarely presented outside of Marfa.
