Evelyne Axell - Erotomobiles - The Mayor Gallery 2003

During the summer 2003, London's Mayor Gallery showed a collection of works by the late Belgium pop artist Evelyne Axell.  Axell's Erotomobiles series focus on the ratio of the woman to the car through a style that is completely her own. In Evelyne Axell's images, the naked female form coexists with the manufactured object to create literally, an Erotomobile. The naked image of the female body is defined by the artist as a free woman, without complexity and sure of its femininity. However, the overwhelming feeling of the autonomy of the female body in her work accentuates the erotic availability of it.
