Dara Birnbaum - Every Tv Needs a Revolution - Imschoot 1992

Using video editing techniques, Dara Birnbaum activates static images of anonymous street posters and graffiti from the student uprisings of May ‘68 and puts their strong graphic elements in the service of her own contemporary cultural critique. The electronically cropped, rotated and inverted images are re-dedicated to the printed page as commentary on the public space of television and mass media.
