Isa Genzken - Works from 1973 to 1983 - König 2020

A collection of works by German artist Isa Genzken.
This volume of Genzken's early work explores the evolution of his work from his student years at the Düsseldorf Art Academy (1973-1977) to 1983. It includes sculptures, computer printouts, numerous drawings, photographs and videos. Combining personal themes with a conceptual approach, many of his works appear at first glance to be studies in geometric abstraction, but on closer inspection they are traces of the artist's own existence, speaking to personal relationships and fluctuating desires. His works at that time could be seen as his response to two trends that dominated the American and Western European art worlds: Minimalism and Conceptual Art.
