Bruce of Los Angeles - Rodeo - Acne Studio 2013
Rodeo, a book of photographs from the Wild West by Bruce Bellas - better known by his pseudonym Bruce of Los Angeles - whose classic style and mastery of light, often compared to the glamour shots of Hollywood, has greatly influenced the work of Robert Mapplethorpe, Herbs Ritts and Bruce Weber.
In this book published by Acne Studios, the art critic and curator Vince Aletti has brought together what he considers to be the most personal shots by the photographer and specialist in Beefcake. More subtle than his usual nudes, these shots reveal a different face of masculinity, more rooted in reality, and reveal a new facet of Bruce Bellas's art, more intimate in particular.
